Egan Drive - Vanderbilt Hill Road Continuous Green T Intersection
Project No. 0932054/SFHWY00524

Project No. 0932054/SFHWY00524

The Egan Drive and Vanderbilt Hill Road Intersection Improvement project aims to transform one of Juneau’s intersections into a safer, more efficient corridor. The project will implement a "Continuous Green T" design, which allows southbound traffic on Egan Drive to flow through the intersection without stopping for a red light. Drivers turning left from Vanderbilt Hill Road onto southbound Egan will be given their own protected lane to safely merge into traffic. By allowing one direction of the highway to move freely, the updated traffic signals can provide more green-light time for other turns, reducing delays for everyone.
Construction activities will include:
Traffic control will include permanent construction signage, lane closures, reduced speed zones, and route detours.
Vanderbilt Hill Road is closed as of May 27, 2026, and will remain closed for the duration of the project. All traffic must use the Glacier Highway detour described below. Please plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
Construction began May 27, 2026, and continue through August 30, 2026. Work will be completed in phases:
